So I thought I would round up a few- 18 to be exact- of my favorites! I also wanted to include a few criteria I look for in choosing dresses to be photographed! If Rachel Parcell wears a swimsuit and a gorgeous dress to a family session, I know it’s a great idea! Some of my favorite inspiration pieces for beautiful beach dresses, swimsuits, and sandal that would be perfect for an organic and elegant beach session.
I’ve been dipping my foot into the world of art direction and fashion photography over the last year. It’s something I’m really excited to do more of and have real dreams of being in that space. My first love will always be weddings, but I have seen such a blend of both fashion and weddings over the past couple years and hope to see even more of the two worlds coming together. Brides that have confidence in their style and a love for fashion always end up picking the most beautiful details that are totally unique to them. Which is honestly one of the coolest parts to see! I love how the personalities of couples really shines on their wedding day from beginning to end. I hope high fashion keeps inspiring brides everywhere and that they can feel confident with their wedding, even if it doesn’t look like ones they’ve pinned, but feels personal to her.
A little weekend recap. A small snapshot of our lives this week! Guests at a wedding, a girls night with my best girls that included shopping and Sees, food budgeting and meal planning, motherhood sessions, and reflecting on this crazy beautiful career we have.
Google photos just notified me that two years ago, today, Michael and I were in New York. I had just run a half marathon, untrained, after walking 10 miles the day before. I pushed myself because I thought it would be a great way to see Central Park. I quickly learned that normal people just walk around it. And I, surprisingly, don't have any negative feelings toward Central Park. In fact, I think I love it more. It's like all of the energy and strength I needed was right there in that park and it carried me along. I've taken some of my favorite images in this park. I've had the best time vacationing solo in this park and also the best time with Michael.
If you’re thinking about non-traditional bridal wear, whether it be jumpsuits or a colored gown, I can’t wait to capture you in it! So excited to be photographing beautiful weddings this year and seeing all of the beautiful details that my couples choose.

With wedding season upon us, even I am on the look out for beautiful pieces I can wear as a wedding guest. Award shows are my favorite time to source inspiration. Clearly, the high-fashion designers know what they are doing and they are setting the tone for the year. So I thought, why not share a few of my favorite looks from the Oscars with some similar pieces you can wear yourself, either as a wedding guest, to a fun party, or a night out!
Jessica and Drew are such good friends of ours and we were honored to photograph their wedding day. Jessica was my first bride to also use my styling and art direction services. It was so much fun to be such a big part of Jess and Drew’s day and really help guide them to find their style and what they love. We started with the engagement session and we found the perfect location and outfits that they felt extremely confident in. We worked together on details for the bridal party and the reception and everything came together so beautifully. Are you looking for this kind of direction for your wedding day?
Julie first contacted me about a family session when her daughter, Lani, was just about a year old. Over the past year and a half, Julie and I have grown a friendship and connected over many things we have in common. I’ve had the privilege of watching their family grow and being there for all the big and small moments. After a few sessions outdoors, we decided on an in-home, lifestyle session for their newborn shoot and it was perfect.
Beautiful summer, backyard wedding. It was truly straight out of an Anthropologie magazine. This sitting area, for guests to lounge and chat was one of Darcy's favorite spots that she designed. And it was perfect for portraits. Every detail involved color and was perfectly placed. It was such a beautiful, summer day and the love these two have for each other was almost tangible. So many of their friends and family members came to celebrate them and were involved in making the day come together, you could really tell how loved they are by so many!
